When more than 70 street families and beggars were taken to a rehabilitation centre at Waithaka, Dagoretti, Nairobi County government thought they had curst all their burdens.
It is until when the beggars demanded for Chips, Sausages and medical services that the officers realized their plan was going downhill.
The officials had no option but let them free since they were not in the capacity to meet their demands.
According to Nairobi county Education Executive Janet Ouko, some of the 9 fake beggars have been arrested.
Ouko confirmed the incident to the star newspaper.
"We couldn't lock them up in a single room due to the state some of them were in. They require specialised treatment which is not possible as the county has no resources, I thought they were genuine beggars initially and we bought them milk and bread. To our surprise they told us they eat smokies and chips," she said as quoted by tuko
The county government of Nairobi has in the past years tried to evict street families from the CBD in vain.
The increased number of street children and beggars has resulted to rampant cases of insecurity with the recent being that of a woman who was raped by a chokora in broad daylight.
